‘Tis the season for socialising. Sequins abound on pretty little party dresses, but what if that’s not your “thing”. I’m not saying to forgo all things shiny and sparkly, but it seems a shame to buy something that doesn’t earn its keep in your closet, or for that matter, carry you through to Spring and maybe, beyond. All the outfits I’ve chosen can be switched up for daytime and will be fabulous workhorses.

This waist cinched dress from SEA ($435.00) has just enough glamorous edge to make it party ready. Go over the top with girly bows to offset the masculine shirting fabric. These gorgeous feather and velvet heels from Marion Parke ($595.00) work brilliantly with the oversized bow clutch by MM6 Maison Margiela ($460.00). This dress will definitely carry you through to next season and the accessories are timeless, well worth the investment.

Take a loose menswear inspired smoking jacket by Free People ( $148.00) in golden velvet and team it with a cutwork cotton top   with feminine puff sleeves from  SEA ($285.00). Add some velvet joggers from GAP ($69.95)  for that casual vibe. Finish with  some black heeled sandals from Schutz ($180.00) and a cool circle bag in white leather from DVF ($211.00). This outfit is perfect altogether, but can easily be mixed and matched with other pieces in your closet to create a myriad of different looks.

The beauty about this dress from We Are Kindred ( $385.00)  is that it’s a button through, so it can be worn as a duster coat as well as a dress. The soft lilac washed out wallpaper print will be perfect to see you through to next Spring/Summer too. Although it has ruffled cuffs and a tiered hemline, this dress is kept from being “too young” because of the clean lines around the neckline. Too much ruffle  around this area is aging and doesnt have a youthful feel. The chunky velvet heels from JOIE ($378.00) add a seasonal texture to give the dress a tougher edge and the heels are embellishment heaven. Add a simple clutch or pouch bag, like this one from mulberry ($450.00) and let the heels make the noise in this outfit.

This striped duster from Free People ($268.00) is fabulous with the hummingbird embroidery on the back. An easy piece to add cool to your closet. Wear with this Cami NYC racer back silk top  in navy ( $148.00) and some reimagined 1950’s 701 jeans from Levi’s ($198.00). Give the look a glam touch with these silver heels with tassel detail from Botkier ($118.00) and the beaded bag from Free People ($168.00, with 25% discount applied at checkout) is the perfect final finish to give this outfit evening glitz. The duster looks great worn open, or  worn closed over pants for a different take.
